Bruce: What did you call him?
Stoya: I called him either Manson or M, depending on if there were a lot of people around; it’s a little casual to call someone M. Although, when you look at it, it’s a little strange to call someone Manson too.
Bruce: But never Marilyn?
Stoya: No, never Marilyn. He does not like to be called Marilyn.
/…/
Bruce: How did you meet?
Stoya: He sent me a myspace message.
Bruce: Did you think it was really him?
Stoya: Not at first. He was saying, “I want to paint you”. I told him to talk to my PR person at Digital, and he said, “Well, I really just want to talk to you.” I thought, if I were a 15-year-old boy with way too much time that’s precisely what I’d be doing, spending hours of my life building a believable myspace profile of a rock star to hit on porn stars.
Bruce: So you thought he might have been an impostor?
Stoya: Yeah. But he said, “Here’s my phone number. Call me. You can ask me whatever you want. I’ll sing one of my songs for you. Whatever I can do to make you believe it’s me.” So I called him from a blocked number and we talked for about an hour. He was so wacky, I said, “Even if you are just some crazy 15-year-old kid, next time I come to LA, I just have to meet you and find out. The next time I went to LA, my dad was with me.
Bruce: Your dad?
Stoya: Yeah, my dad. So we went to meet the alleged Mr. Manson, /…/ in the Hollywood Hills. At the house he opened the door and I said, “Dad, this is the alleged Mr. Manson. Alleged Mr. Manson, this is my dad.” And my father said, “Honey, I think that’s really him,” and decided to that he was going to go wait in the car.
/…/
Bruce: Did you see him after that?
Stoya: We were dating for a while. When he was on tour, we were together 24/7. It was intense. /…/ It was just a little too much for me. We flew every day, and I was like, “Dude, I can’t deal with this, I’m sorry. Maybe give me a call when you’re back in America and staying in one place. And PS, I’m not going to quit smoking and I know that you hate that.” /…/ It was fun and we’re still friends.
/…/
Bruce: Was he a good lover?
Stoya: He was a very good lover. He was very polite and he was a giver.
Bruce: That’s important, right?
Stoya: Yes.
