#20 Imperial State Electric

Imperial State Electric dropped their self-titled debut record in 2010, but there’s not much new about this band. Except the songs and the line-up. Nicke Andersson is already well known for his skills and knowledge, and you know there’s always something interesting happening when he’s about. In this particular case the sound and the influences come from the great history of rock, hard rock and soul. The riffs are as tight as they come, and there’s good times to be had. 60′s style. The Hellacopters might be no more, The Solution is on hiatus, great stuff might lie ahead for Death Breath, but in Nicke Andersson’s world there’s always time to do new songs and get them on the road. And why not? With this new band there’s also a lot of both rock and roll. Brilliant.

Nicke Andersson’s talking about doing Wail Baby Wail as a cover (can be seen on SVT Play here):
Little Richard is the best. So absolutely brilliant that everybody wanted to be Little Richard. Luckily that was the case, if it wasn’t, we wouldn’t have heard Kid Thomas/Tommy Louis this good. Almost better than the original. Almost.

Nicke made a Spotify playlist too. A list made out of really good songs, no specific type or genre.  Get it here.
